Lynne Taylor-Kilgore

Studio Director - Company and Recreational Instructor

 

Lynne is the owner and director of Synergy Dance Academy. She has been dancing/teaching for over 30 years and prior to that was a competitive gymnast. Lynne is a registered teacher with The Cecchetti Council of America, a member of Dance Educators of America and a certified teacher of Dance Masters of America.

Lynne is also certified in Progressive Ballet Training (PBT). She is a former Dance Masters Miss Dance of Michigan and a finalist on Star Search. In addition to her dancing background she has also worked for Elite Modeling Agency in Michigan and NYC. Lynne continues her dance education in Cecchetti and other dance diciplines by taking master classes throughout the country. She has received several regional and national choreography awards for her competitive groups and loves to share her passion for dance with her students.  

 

 

 

Amy Troha

Company and Recreational Instructor

 

Amy began dancing at the tender age of three and her love of dance and performing has continued throughout her life. Amy is a Livonia Churchhill graduate were she was a member of the Creative and Performing Arts Program. She has participated in numerous regional and national competitions and performances. Amy attended Wayne State University on a talent scholarship where she studied dance education. While at WSU Amy enjoyed performing with the "Company One" dance ensemble. Amy had success professioanlly with her dancing including performing with recording artist Seal representing Audi in the North American Show. Amy continues her studies in dance while teaching at Synergy and is looking forward to sharing her love of dance and performing with her students at Synergy.

Patti Berlin

Director of Pre K Program - Recreational Instructor

 

Patti Berlin is a life-long lover of dance and fitness.  Her passion for dance began at the age of 6 when she took her first 
class.  Throughout her childhood she expanded her repertoire to include Jazz, Ballet and Tap.  By the time she was 
in her late teens she was not only performing competitively, but also sharing her passion for dance through her teaching of 
children of all ages.  She taught mainly gymnastics and jazz in studios located in mid-Michigan, Indianapolis, Cleveland and here in Plymouth. It was this joy of teaching that kept her actively involved in dance up until the time of having her first child. In 1991, after the birth of her oldest son she refocused her energy toward that of fitness.  She is a self-proclaimed, “exercise nut” who has achieved truly significant personal results.   Patti is again sharing her passion for dance and fitness by teaching at Synergy. 

 

 

Kimberly Sable Smith

Company and Recreational Instructor

 

Kimberly has been studying dance for over twenty-three years, and has been teaching for over ten. She is educated in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, and modern. As a teenager, she competed throughout the country; winning 
numerous awards including first overall soloist at Showstopper’s National Dance Competition’s East Coast Nationals two years in a row, and at Premier Dance’s  Nationals. Upon high school graduation, Kimberly received a scholarship to the dance program at The University of Michigan. While studying at U of M, Kimberly had the opportunity to train with Judy Rice, Peter Sparling, Bill DeYoung, Jessica Fogel, Amy Chavasse, and Robin Wilson, dance and compete with The  University of Michigan Dance Team, and choreograph and perform with Pure Dance X-treme.  After graduating with honors, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance and Choreography, she accepted a scholarship to a summer intensive with River North Dance Company in Chicago, and moved to New York City in the fall to further pursue her dance career. While in New York, Kimberly danced professionally with companies including The Next Stage Project, Jennifer Muller/ The Works, and DoubleTake Dance Company. She performed at renowned venues throughout the east coast such as New York’s City Center, NYC Summer Stage, Brooklyn Ballet Theater, Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway and Peridance Capizio Theater. Kimberly recently relocated to Ann Arbor with her husband, and she is thrilled to be able to pass on her experience and passion for dance to all of her students at Synergy Dance Academy!

Mackenzie Chapin

Company and Recreational Instructor

Mackenzie started dancing at the age of five and her passion only continued to grow. Throughout her life she danced competitively for twelve years, winning many National awards including top senior soloist, top group awards and several judges special awards. In her early high school years she began assisting her teachers in classes of younger students. Mackenzie discovered that not only did she have a passion for dance but for teaching as well. Knowing that she wanted her future to include teaching dance she attended Oakland University after school where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, specializing in dance, with a concentration in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary. Mackenzie has been fortunate enough to take classes from world renowned dancers/choreographers that have inspired the continued growth in her teaching and choreography.  Her love for dance makes her excited to watch her students learn and shine through their dancing and performing. 

Chyna Eurich

Recreational Instructor

Chyna began dancing at the age of three and she has never stopped.  Her very first class was ballet and that was just the beginning.  Over the years her dance genre grew to include jazz, lyrical, tap, pointe, and hip hop.  Her real love for dance really started here at our own studio, Synergy, where she had the privilege of dancing with Synergy’s competitive dance team for 4 years. She continues to attend dance workshops throughout the year where she has been inspired by some of the leading choreographers of today.  She looks forward to sharing her love of dance with your children and hopes to inspire them.

Regan Thorp

Recreational Instructor

Regan’s love of dance began at the age of 6 with a class taught by studio owner Lynne. From there she proceeded to join her previous company before moving on too Synergy’s own first dance company. Regan has studied a plethora of genres: jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater, tap, ballet, and Bollywood. She attended many workshops lead by top choreographers and competed against the newest generation of dancers today. The past year she has taken an immense interest in teaching, being specifically mentored by Lynne. She’s excited to further her own dance education through teaching the young ones at Synergy.

Kelsey Rose Young

Kelsey Rose Young is an up-and-coming performer, teacher and choreographer based in Detroit, Michigan. Kelsey is on faculty with Showstopper conventions, Fuzion dance camp, and Motor City Tap Fest. She is the director and lead choreographer for the pre-professional tap company – Detroit Tap Repertory, as well as a member of Shelby Kaufman’s tap company, G.L.Y.D.E., and Detroit’s Jordan Mac hip hop crew. Kelsey recently performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as part of the DSO Educational Series and was a guest speaker at the Moving With Detroit seminar for dance educators. In 2015, she was a contestant on the FOX Network's So You Think You Can Dance - Season 12, advancing to the Vegas round. She has had the privilege of studying under and performing alongside many of today’s most respected tap dancers and legends including Arthur Duncan, Ardie Bryant, Bill Irwin, Gregg Russell, Chloe Arnold, Sarah Reich, Chris Broughton, David Mann, Jenefer Miller, and Suzy Guarino.

As a choreographer, Kelsey draws from her training and range of experiences as a singer and dancer to create a style that is intricate, gritty, passionate, and entertaining. Her pieces have received many awards and accolades across the country and she is quickly becoming one of the Midwest’s premier tap choreographers. Kelsey is a member of Cecchetti Council of America and is branching out into the ballroom arena completing her first season of amateur competition. She is currently working as a competitive tap instructor at two Metro Detroit studios and works independently as a choreographer for students throughout Michigan. Over the years, Kelsey has worked with the Jonas Brothers, Debbie Gibson, and Radio Disney and has performed in the Macy’s and Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parades, at the Detroit Jazz Festival, and at TedX Detroit.
