Ballet Technique – Once a student chooses to study
ballet on a continuous basis we know we have inspired of love
of the art of ballet. Continuing with ballet training will strengthen
all other disciplines of dance. In these non-syllabus ballet
classes we offer basic technique, Russian, and other methods.
We also stress turnout, rotation, body placement, elevation in
leaps, placement in pirouettes and performance skills.
Fairy Tale Ballet Series ‐ This class is specifically
designed for the 3-5 beginning ballerina. Through this class
your dancer will discover the magic of fairy tales through the
eyes of ballet. They will learn 7 classic ballets with dances and
an understanding of the story behind the ballet. This class
provides and in studio performance for parents every 5th week
and a year end recital performance. Check out our weekly
schedule below.
Jazz - This is always a popular class choice. These classes
are fun and fast paced with an emphasis on applying dance
technique for leaps, turns and clean lines. A traditional jazz
class will offer a variety of styles from Broadway to current
cutting edge. Choreography plus technique will be stressed in
these classes.
Tap – in this class we work toward improving the student’s
technique and timing. In every level there is a strong warm up,
across the floor work and new and exciting combinations.
Basics and intricate rhythms are taught at each student’s level.
This class is very useful for dancers interested in musical
theater and commercial performing.
Contemporary /Lyrical - One of the most beautiful
and fluid forms of dance, lyrical and contemporary are two of
the most popular forms of dance today. Dancers will learn to
incorporate style, technique, flexibility and their own
creativeness into expressive, story-telling combinations.
The freedom allowed in lyrical/contemporary dancing gives the
dancer the chance to push some boundaries while still
maintaining the importance of proper training and technique.
Gymnastics – This class offers important conditioning,
strength and flexibility training by learning basic and advanced
acrobatic skills. Class work will be centered on floor work that
is very beneficial for dancers who want that extra edge at
competitions or auditions.
Pre-Tumbling -This class is specifically designed for the
young dancer or future gymnast to learn the proper way of
stretching and basic beginning gymnastics skills. Beginning
mat work will be introduced at this level; this is a great class to
take in combination with a dance class.
JFH/Hip Hop – Two of our most popular and exciting
classes. Funky, Flirty, Free & Fun are the best words to
describe these classes. Hip Hop and Funk are incorporated
into the more basic style of jazz to produce a class full of
energy. The class lightly touches on technique but is more
focused on style and flair of the movements.
Graded Cecchetti Ballet – Continuing Synergy’s
philosophy of the importance of ballet, these classes are for our
most serious students. Most students at this level have studied
ballet previously and for many years.
This class is for the serious ballet student that wants to be
monitored and measured by the highest standards. Students
must be invited into these classes and some are taught as
workshops sessions off the regular weekly schedule for more
impact.
Pointe – Pointe work at all levels requires discipline,
technique and hard work. Students who participate in this class
must also be enrolled in an additional ballet class to keep their
technique fresh.
At all levels we concentrate on proper use of the feet, body
alignment, placement and technique. This class is for the
serious dancer.
Combination & Progressions – This class is
unique to Synergy. A live percussionist will accompany the
dancers during this class of across the floor and center
combinations. In this class the dancers will be challenged to
learn at a quick pace and change up their moves from week to
week.
Turns & Tricks – Just like it sounds…in this class we
focus on the elements required to help put a dance together in
addition to the choreography. Different turn and leap
combinations will be explored throughout the year continually
building as the students’ progress.
Dancers will have an opportunity during this class to hone and
perfect their “dance tricks” in order to make the transition to a
choreographed number smoother.
Creative Movement/Morning Round Up –
These classes are geared towards our youngest Synergy
dancers. Both classes will concentrate on large and small
motor skills, classroom etiquette, movement with music and
basic dance steps. The classes are designed to work with the
dancers at an individual level without parent participation in the
classroom, but you will always be close by. Our goal for both
classes is a year end performance on stage to inspire the joy
movement and dance.
Modern - Modern technique classes will allow students to
explore many elements of dance including space, time, and
energy. Students will learn creativity and use improvisation.
Students will learn technical aspects of modern dance by
exploring alignment, breath, and sequencing. Modern dance
teaches dancers to use the body to construct meaning and
communication.
Structured technical exercises that condition the body for
strength, coordination and flexibility are developed. Physical
activities which focus on the aspects of space, time, shape,
and movement dynamics are explored through individual work
as well as group work. Learning and performing choreography
will also be an aspect of the modern technique classes.
